Pediatricians drowning in paperwork may soon have a high-tech lifeline, thanks to a new partnership aimed at cutting documentation time and bringing the focus back to patients.

Insight Health, known for its AI-powered healthcare solutions, has teamed up with Office Practicum, a provider of pediatric-specific electronic health records (EHRs), to unveil Opie AI, a white-labelled version of Insight Health’s clinical AI assistant, fine-tuned for pediatric workflows.

The new solution, set to launch in May 2025, promises to reduce the documentation burden that has long plagued pediatricians, who often juggle complex patient interactions with mountains of digital charting.

“This partnership reflects a strong alignment between our mission to help clinicians focus on meaningful, personalised care and Office Practicum’s deep understanding of pediatrics. Rather than forcing pediatricians to adapt to generic AI tools, we’ve created a solution that seamlessly integrates with their existing workflows,” said Jaimal Soni, Co-founder and CEO of Insight Health.

What makes Opie AI different?

While many AI scribes promise time-saving benefits, few are built with the specific needs of pediatricians in mind. Opie AI is designed from the ground up using pediatric clinical data, including age-specific vitals, developmental milestones, immunisation schedules, and pediatric diagnostic frameworks.

The goal is to give doctors an assistant that “thinks” in the same language they use every day, without forcing them to relearn their workflow or adjust to AI that doesn’t understand the nuances of child health.

While other EHR providers are scrambling to plug in generic AI tools, Office Practicum now has a purpose-built solution tailored for its users, which could strengthen its value proposition at a time when clinicians are demanding more intuitive, less burdensome tech.

A strategy to empower, not replace

Both companies have emphasised that Opie AI is not a replacement for clinicians but a tool to support them. Medical accuracy and safety remain front and centre, with Insight Health putting its AI models through rigorous clinical validation.

Future iterations of the tool will introduce more intelligent automation, clinical decision support, and documentation enhancements, all geared toward making pediatricians’ lives easier while improving the quality of care for their young patients.

Opie AI will officially be available to Office Practicum customers starting in May 2025, with new capabilities rolling out in phases through the rest of the year.
