Accenture has announced plans to acquire Yumemi, a Japan-based digital services company, to expand its ability to quickly design, develop, and launch innovative digital products for clients. The move strengthens Accenture’s position in digital product development by combining Yumemi’s agile design-engineering approach with Accenture’s expertise in generative AI and data analytics.
Atsushi Egawa, CEO, Accenture, Japan, and co-CEO, Asia-Pacific, said: “By integrating Yumemi’s advanced capabilities, we will bolster our ability to help clients address critical business challenges by anticipating their needs and supporting the development of innovative new digital products. In addition, Yumemi’s growth is fuelled by its strong corporate culture and active engagement of its diverse talent, and its leaders prioritise the development of their people and cultivate a flexible, transparent environment, fostering new ideas and exceptional employee experiences.”
Yumemi has created digital solutions for over 600 companies across all major industries, reaching 60 million users globally each month. Its team of about 400 professionals will join Accenture Song, the company’s creative technology group, enhancing its capabilities in Japan.
This acquisition supports Accenture’s strategy to help clients keep up with fast-evolving digital demands. With the global digital transformation market projected to hit $1.755 trillion by 2028—and Japan seeing a 9.6% annual growth rate—Accenture aims to offer seamless end-to-end services for digital product development, addressing client challenges like slow time-to-market and disconnected design and development phases.
Toshiyuki Kataoka, CEO of Yumemi Inc., said: “By combining Accenture’s comprehensive offerings with our proven ‘design engineering’ expertise, unique and diverse employee culture, and strong customer community, we aim to accelerate the development of digital services that will transform industry norms. We have immense respect for Accenture’s culture, which aligns harmoniously with our own.”
The acquisition also builds on Accenture Song’s recent expansion, following its 2024 acquisition of Work & Co.
