The Home Depot is rolling out Magic Apron, an AI-powered assistant designed to help customers tackle everything from lawn care to full-scale renovations without having to corner an employee in-store.

Dubbed the first generative AI tool of its kind in home improvement, Magic Apron is trained on The Home Depot’s product catalogue, how-to guides, and data from across the internet. Whether you’re wondering how to aerate your lawn, which fertiliser works best, or how to install a backsplash, the AI is on standby to provide step-by-step guidance and product recommendations.

Jordan Broggi, executive vice president of customer experience and president – online, Home Depot, said: “Magic Apron is designed to bring the same expertise to the digital world, leveraging our proprietary knowledge base to support our customers and give them the confidence to tackle their home improvement projects, anytime, anywhere.”

Already embedded in millions of product pages on the retailer’s website and mobile app, Magic Apron is set to expand further, soon catering to professional contractors via Home Depot’s Pro B2B site. Future updates promise design inspiration, product comparisons, and personalised recommendations.

Home Depot says the assistant is built to get smarter over time, learning from customer and employee interactions to improve accuracy and relevance. Whether you’re a casual DIYer or a seasoned professional, this AI companion could provide the needed support.
