As part of the Ipsos/UKCXA London meeting last week, Elev-8’s Lee Jones tackled the thorny issue of networking and relationships in a group or crowded event. Judging by the smattering of raised hands when he asked the collected CX audience who was a “confident networker?” We all still have much to do in this area.

Jones provided and elicited some useful tips, like the oh-so-British have a drink, wearing distinctive attire, to undertaking some research about people and topics.

But his primary message was to take an interest in people and let the selling or promotion come second. Take a look at some of the photos from the day to see our networking and relationships-building skills in action.

Surviving the Relationships Jungle

His advice is nothing without some practical experience. So, the group of around 40 attendees was split into two teams, and provided with discussion cards to help get conversations started in a test speed-dating-style setting. Swapping partners and cards proved a great way to shake loose some of our natural reserve and get conversations flowing.

After the test session, everyone was let loose on the real thing, with sandwiches, snacks and beverages to meet up and discuss the highlights of the day, ongoing CX challenges and to make new friends.

This was an excellent end to an exciting day of information and insight in the world of CX and business relationship improvement, delivered by Ipsos and Awards International.
