AI Skyways Takes Off: Qatar Airways and Accenture Partner to Redefine Air Travel

Qatar Airways and Accenture have launched AI Skyways, a joint initiative designed to bring AI into more parts of the business — improving how passengers are served, streamlining flight operations, enhancing staff training, supporting environmental goals, and helping the airline group run more efficiently overall.
The initiative will apply AI to a range of aviation scenarios, including optimising flight schedules and improving predictive maintenance. The goal is to deliver measurable value both for Qatar Airways and the wider industry. The initiative also includes a “value realisation office” to track and maximise returns from AI adoption.
Qatar Airways’ Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “This partnership with Accenture to establish AI Skyways represents a significant milestone in our journey to become leaders in AI-driven aviation. AI Skyways will leverage AI to reimagine a spectrum of operations across Qatar Airways Group—from customer service to operations, to ensure that passengers enjoy a seamless and enriching travel experience. Furthermore, the partnership will focus on using AI for real-time data analysis to improve decision-making capabilities and operational responses.”
AI Skyways is part of Qatar Airways’ drive to become a digital-first airline, integrating advanced technologies to enhance decision-making and efficiency. The carrier says its approach will follow strict ethical standards, safeguard data privacy, and ensure that AI deployment benefits all stakeholders.
If successful, the project could give the airline a blueprint for AI adoption that other carriers might follow, balancing efficiency gains with ethical safeguards.
In a related move, Singapore Airlines has partnered with Qualtrics on a three-year project using research, analytics, and AI to track and respond to changing customer needs across all touchpoints.
