Zoom Phone Surpasses 10 Million Seats, Cementing AI-First Approach to Business Communication

Zoom Phone has officially surpassed 10 million seats globally, marking a major milestone for the company’s cloud telephony solution. Since its 2019 launch, Zoom Phone has become one of the fastest-growing cloud-based phone systems, reflecting a move from legacy PBX setups to unified, AI-enhanced communication platforms.
Zeus Karravala, Principal Analyst at ZK Research, said: “The achievement of 10M phone seats in such a short period of time is remarkable, but shouldn’t come as a surprise. Zoom’s constant innovation, customer satisfaction, and AI integration made it a leader in meetings, and it has applied the same approach to phone.”
Zoom Phone is built on Zoom’s scalable, reliable, and open platform, offering enterprise-grade features and flexibility. Its AI-first capabilities, including intelligent call routing and integration with meetings, messaging, and contact centre tools, allow businesses to streamline workflows, improve collaboration, and enhance customer engagement.
Chris Moss, General Manager of Zoom Phone, said: “Customers are realising tangible value via simpler management, reduced costs, and smarter interactions powered by AI.”
Zooming into the AI Era
In addition to the major milestone, the company’s broader AI strategy continues to develop. Last month, at Zoomtopia 2025, Zoom unveiled AI Companion 3.0, a collaborative AI assistant that helps teams synthesise information from meetings, calls, chats, documents, and external sources to deliver actionable insights in real time.
AI Companion 3.0 introduces a new “work surface” in the Zoom Workplace desktop app and browsers, consolidating data into a single hub for generating reports, drafting documents, and receiving context-aware recommendations. Paid subscribers can now take notes even for meetings held outside Zoom, including Teams, Google Meet, and WebEx.
The agentic AI framework also powers Zoom’s Business Services, including updates to Zoom Virtual Agent (ZVA) and AI-driven tools like Automated Quality Management and Zoom Revenue Accelerator. These solutions automate routine tasks, surface critical business intelligence, and support smarter customer and employee interactions.
Zoom Cares further reinforced the company’s commitment to AI education, announcing a $10 million, three-year initiative to expand access to AI learning and opportunities for underserved communities worldwide.
