Zoomtopia 2025: AI Companion 3.0, Bringing Agentic AI to Work and Customer Experience

Zoom announced the arrival of AI Companion 3.0, the latest iteration of its intelligent assistant designed to weave agentic AI across every corner of its platform, at its flagship event, Zoomtopia 2025.
More than just an assistant, AI Companion 3.0 is a collaborative partner that helps transform conversations into action.
During the event, Zoom executives demonstrated how the technology synthesises information from meetings, calls, chats, documents, and external sources like market research, delivering insights in real time. The aim is to save time, reduce manual work, and improve the quality of output.
A New Work Surface for Collaboration
One of the headline features is the new “work surface,” available in browsers and the Zoom Workplace desktop app. The interface brings together scattered data into one adaptive hub, enabling users to generate reports, draft polished documents, and receive context-aware recommendations without switching between tools.
Paid users will also gain advanced note-taking capabilities, even for meetings that occur outside Zoom, including on Teams, Google Meet, and WebEx.
In March this year, AI Companion got the agentic AI facelift, which transformed it from a personal assistant into an agentic tool that streamlines workflows across Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, Docs, Phone, Whiteboard, and more.
AI for Smarter Customer and Employee Interactions
The agentic AI approach extends into Zoom’s Business Services portfolio, including updates to the Zoom Virtual Agent (ZVA) and new AI-driven tools for customer support and sales. Features such as Agentic AI Expert Assist and CX Insights promise to automate routine tasks, surface critical business intelligence, and provide leaders with actionable data.
A new “bring your own voice” capability for ZVA was also introduced, letting brands design consistent, on-brand interactions.
Zoom’s Customer Experience suite is gaining further upgrades with Automated Quality Management and the expansion of Zoom Revenue Accelerator, now powered by an agentic prospecting skill that can identify and contact high-potential leads automatically.
Availability and Pricing
General availability for AI Companion 3.0 is slated for November 2025 at no extra cost for Zoom Workplace subscribers. A new low-code Custom AI Companion builder will be offered as a $12 per-user monthly add-on for businesses seeking tailored solutions.
Zoom Cares invests in AI education
In a separate announcement at Zoomtopia, Zoom Cares, the social impact initiative of the video conferencing company, announced a $10 million, three-year commitment to expand access to AI education and opportunity. The initiative will fund both large grants to global AI-for-impact organisations and regional grants supporting community-based projects.
Hadi Partovi, Founder and CEO of Code.org, said the support will help expand free AI curricula, reach more educators, and increase access for underserved students. Since its launch in 2020, Zoom Cares has contributed over $66 million globally, with this latest initiative marking its most ambitious investment in AI education and inclusivity to date.
Zoom recently entered the automotive market through its partnership with LG, making video conferencing available directly from in-car infotainment systems.
